Gang of Dwarves Hits Swedish Buses

Posted February 22, 2008 by Zak Patten

Dwarfswebus_4 They say size matters. When it comes to the latest episode of criminals targeting travelers, the old saw is true, but not in the way you'd think.

It seems Sweden is grappling with an unusual crime wave at the moment, one in which dwarves (yep, full-grown little people) are zipped into baggage that is then loaded onto long-distance buses. Once the baggage compartment is closed, the diminutive stowaways pop out of their suitcases and proceed to loot through the luggage all around them. The pint-sized perps then dive back into their own bagsnow filled with stolen propertyand quietly wait to be picked up by their criminal accomplices (who are presumably of more typical stature) at a predetermined bus station.

Gives new meaning to the phrase "small-time crook," doesn't it?

I have so many questions for these little people. Is it cold down in those luggage compartments? Do they get jostled around a lot? Are they in hard-case suitcases? Also, are people really traveling with diamonds and rubies on cross-country buses?
