Maine-freeport-llbean-def If you love a bargain, the coastal village of Freeport, Maine offers nothing but deals. You can stay in a darling inn, with extra perks in one neat little package, and hit the shops running with coupons in hand. After you're spent, take a tour of a local vodka distillery for free to toast your savings.

Stay
Harraseeket Inn: Located a few blocks from the L.L.Bean store, Harraseeket Inn makes for an ideal place to drop after you shop. The hotel flawlessly combines country qualities such as antiques with the luxurious pampering power of Jacuzzis and fireplaces. You can choose from a range of package options, but don't miss out on the Serious Shopper deal, which includes a $25 L.L.Bean coupon, two-night stay, dinner for two, breakfast each morning, and afternoon tea starting at $385 during the off-season.

Shop
Freeport outlets and shops: If you think outlets are just strip malls filled with disorganized clothing racks, think again. Since L.L.Bean first opened its doors in 1911, Freeport has become a shopper's paradise, and is now home to more than 170 different merchants. You'll find storefronts rich with New England character masking bargain outlets from J.Crew and Brooks Brothers to Maine specialty shops like Cool as a Moose. Print off coupons for even greater savings on already discounted prices.

Drink
Cold River Vodka: One potato, two potato, three potato ... vodka! Cold River Vodka began as a dream shared by two brothers, Lee and Donnie Thibodeau, of one day turning Maine's multipurpose vegetable into liquor. With the help of two close friends, Bob Harkins and Chris Dowe, the distillery is now one of the only in the country that oversees its entire production from seed to bottle. Return to the roots of potato-based vodkas with a free tour of the grounds offered between noon and 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays. Maine law doesn't allow on-site tasting, but a nip-size bottle only costs $3.95.
