Nighttime Fun in Ogden, Utah

Posted November 24, 2009 by Jamie Moore

Or-ogden-powdermt-def When the sun sets, Ogden gets a second wind. Cheap night skiing lights up the slopes at Powder Mountain, and a quirky brewpub serves up apres-ski fun down in the valley. Best of all, though, are the deals at a mountainside inn with spectacular views and ski-in, ski-out access.

Powder Mountain: More than 500 inches of snow drops each year on the vast 7,000 acres of skiable terrain here. Yep, this mountain isn't called "powder" for nothing. Catch a snowcat ride to Lightning Ridge where 700 acres of untouched fluffy white stuff awaits. Late risers, rejoice! During extended-hours night skiing (3 to 9 p.m.) you can carve up some of the mountain's 124 runs for a mere $15.

Roosters Brewing Company: Enjoy night-skiing 'til 9:00 p.m, then unwind at this red-bricked brewpub's weekend scene. The hoppy Polygamy Pale Ale (this is Utah after all) is so good you'll want more than one, and the rich Chocolate Stout will soothe those apres night skiing chills. Those who prefer a lighter pint can sample the Bee's Knees Honey Wheat or a Two-Bit Amber. Even the designated driver will be happy … sipping homemade root beer and cream sodas.

Columbine Inn: At this cozy mountainside inn the location is picture perfect—the rooms look out over the ski runs. Wake up, brew a cup of java, then strap on your skis and zoom down to the Sundown ski lift. And, since your front door is slopeside, you can head back out after dinner for an easy night-skiing adventure. Rates start at $80 per night until 12/15, at which point they'll start at $110.
