Rumor has it that nothing's cheap in Bermuda. We beg to differ. It didn't take much digging to turn up deals at a South Shore hotel, famous pub, and underwater institute.Check out these spots that go easy on the pocketbook.
Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute: Shipwrecks and bioluminescent glowworms are just two of Bermuda's offshore mysteries uncovered in interactive exhibits here. Climb into a bathysphere and see what the first deep-ocean dive felt like. Above water, check out the massive shell collection and treasure room filled with sparkling pirate booty. Regular admission is $12.50 per person.
Swizzle Inn: "Swizzle Inn, swagger out" is the motto at one of Bermuda's oldest and best-known pubs. Patrons attribute the swaggering part to the potent rum swizzle served here. The pub claims it's the official home of this rum punch concoction, Bermuda's national drink, and keeps the exact recipe under wraps. Drop in for a drink and cheeseburger in double-deck patio paradise, or sing along with local entertainers inside.
Grape Bay Beach Hotel: If you're OK with staying just off the beach you'll save some serious cash at this hotel. It's just across the street from the gorgeous Grape Bay Beach on the South Shore. Rooms boast ocean views (starting around $110 per night in low season), as does the poolside terrace restaurant, a laid-back place to sample local cuisine or snack on sushi rolls.
